Don’t Smile

I went to the doctor recently and his receptionist noticed that my Health card had expired the week before.

Oops.

I knew that it had to be renewed every five years but it had completely fallen off the radar. I had no idea when my five years started / ended.

This also meant that I had to renew my actual driver’s licence as well.

It was a hot day and I had my hair pulled back in a pony tail and, of course, no make up.

What’s the big deal – in the 35 years that I have been driving I have never had an attractive photo on my licence (or more recently, my Health card).

So, on my way home from the doctor’s office, I stopped at the MTO and got a new photo taken while renewing all of my identification.

Ironically, the lady took the photo, of course reminding me not to smile, and when she checked it, she said she had to do a second one.

I picked up the mail today and got my new licence. Makes we wonder two things :

1. What the HELL did the original picture look like? Could it BE worse than this one?

2. Did she maybe delete the wrong one and actually print the bad one on my licence?

When looking at my licence, either is a distinct possibility!

Well – although it is easier to have a pony tail in because it keeps my hair out of my face … NOT GONNA HAPPEN AGAIN! I may re-grow out my bangs!

Do you realize what this means? I need to be healthy and not speed for the next 5 years so that neither of these forms of ID EVER have to leave my wallet!

LessonS Learned?

1) DO NOT WEAR a pony tail in a photo! It looks like you have a bowl cut all the way around your head the length of your bangs!

2) Ask if you can look at your photo on the screen BEFORE you leave cuz there are no retakes!

3) I am at a bit of a disadvantage not having a husband here to say something like “Is that how you are wearing your hair today?” before leaving the house!

I am just like you! A regular woman who went to work Monday to Friday, came home and did all that stuff that we all do - raised my kids, played with my dogs, worked around the house and spent time with my husband. Like most of us, I feel like I took that relationship for granted. I knew I was lucky but I didn't know HOW lucky - until January 26, 2021. The day that Rob passed away. As a way to work through this really crappy, unfair time, I thought I would start a blog. Not to whine and complain but to document those times AND the good ones! Because there ARE good times as well!
