So I got a new hand mixer.
One would think that a hand mixer is pretty much standard. One much like the other. Not really “high tech” but a simple, small appliance.
One would be WRONG.
I was making a recipe that called for multi steps and I had to wash the beaters in between.
Usually not a problem.
I had had my old mixer for at least 20 years so I could literally use it with my eyes shut!

There are 2 buttons on my beautiful new mixer, as you can see – one on the top of the handle and one on the side.
On my old mixer, the one one the top was the one that I would use to release the beaters in between recipe steps to wash them.
I, mistakenly, assumed this mixer would be the same.
I made the mistake of holding on to beaters so that when I pushed the button, I could pull them out and start washing them.
NOPE! This mixer was the opposite. So, when I pushed the button on the top, the beaters started to rotate – with my fingers still in them!
Luckily I reacted fairly quickly and turned the button OFF!
I am a pretty quick learner, if I don’t say so myself because, THIS time, when I went to release the beaters, my left hand was not even NEAR the mixer!
Lesson Learned? When you get a new appliance – ANY appliance, read the manual or, at the VERY least, take a minute to really look it over before you use it for the first time.
I love that you are doing this!!! I love your stories as you know and was going to suggest this to you! You were way ahead of me. I look forward to catching up!!
Hugs,
